New Projects 3 – Watoto

The Watoto Child Care Ministry is run by the Kampala Pentecostal Church. It provides housing, clothing, food and schooling for nearly 1500 orphans. There is a huge need for more accommodation, a secondary school and vocational training centre. This is Rachael with one of the orphans we went to visit.

New Projects 2 – School

These pictures are of a rented room which is currently being used as a classroom for over 20 pupils. They have minimal furniture and materials. There are projects like this all around us and it is really difficult to know which once to get involved in.

New Projects 1 – Nyakabale Hospital

While we are out here we have been asked to find new projects that Mission Direct can get involved in.

These pictures are of the hospital in Rukungiri – as you can see it is in major need of refurbishment – although in reality these pictures do not show the most desperate need – that of a new incinerator and a constant water and electricity supply.

White Water Rafting !!!

Just in case you though that this was all work and no play – here are some of the action shots of us White Water Rafting down the Nile.

Painting

While we were at the hospital doing some teaching we were told that they had had material delivered for curtains for the paediatric ward but there was no-one to make them. My friend Jane is coming on the last team next week and I know that she has skills in sewing and teaching. So…. She is going to teach the girls at the vocational training centre that is attached to the Modern School how to make curtains with this material – the girls will learn skills and the hospital will get their curtains. In addition… we have decided that we will decorate the paediatric wards to make them more hygienic and appropriate for new curtains. This picture shows Marina and Rachael cleaning last week. We also managed to get the first coat of paint on the walls in one of the wards.
